Our story

It started at a grandmother's sufra in Taiz

In Taiz, a meal is never small. Our grandmother cooked for whoever walked through the door: neighbors, cousins, travelers. Her lamb Mandi, her Saltah and her honey-soaked Bint Al-Sahn were famous on our street.

When our family opened Taiz Restaurant, we made one promise: cook her food exactly the way she did. The same spice blends, the same patience, the same tannour fire. No shortcuts.

Today we welcome everyone, whether you grew up eating Yemeni food or you are trying Mandi for the very first time.

Where it began

Taiz, Yemen

Family recipes from the green highlands, famous across Yemen for their flavor.

How we cook

Tannour & stone

Mandi in the pit oven, Saltah and Fahsa sizzling in heavy stone madra pots.

Who we serve

Everyone

Families, friends, students, office teams and anyone curious about Yemeni food.

Our mission

To share authentic Yemeni cuisine with every guest, cooked with patience and served with the generosity Yemen is known for.

Every plate should feel like being welcomed into a Yemeni home.

What makes us different

The details you can taste

Real tannour

Our Mandi is cooked in a traditional pit oven over coals, not a regular kitchen oven.

Cooked fresh daily

Meat goes into the tannour every morning. When a batch is gone, we cook a new one.

House-ground spices

Hawaij, cumin and cardamom ground from whole spices every week for a deeper aroma.

Yemeni hospitality

Free Adeni tea after your meal, and staff who are happy to guide first-timers.
